After a call out for Linux support from the Animals in Distress in late 2006, LSD has decided to sponsor the maintenance of the Linux Servers and Desktop PC's in 2007 to 2010.
The Society for Animals in Distress was founded in 1958.  We are not a re-homing or rescue operation, rather we provide veterinary care to animals belonging to people living in disadvantaged areas in nine townships in and around Tembisa.
 
We are based in Midrand where our hospital can accomodate up to 70 small and 40 large animals. It is here that our fieldworkers bring injured or sick animals for further treatment or surgery before returning them to their owners.  
 
We educate 14 000 children a year in 63 schools in the areas which we service and care for the well-being of 300 coal-yard horses.
